Q + A

Where is the venue located?

The venue, Devil's River Whiskey Distillery, is located in the heart of downtown San Antonio at 401 E. Houston St. just blocks away from numerous hotels. Please see our Travel page for more information on places to stay!

Can I bring my kids?

Great question!! Short answer: absolutely not. Longer short answer: Due to the ceremony and the reception being hosted at an actual bar, we are NOT allowing kids for liability reasons.

Am I allowed to bring a plus one ?

Because this is a small wedding with only our closest friends and family, we ask that unless you're married, engaged, or in a long-term, committed relationship, you come alone. We understand that we don't get to see or talk to all of you all the time, and you have your own lives, so we may not know the person you'd like to bring. If you do not receive a plus one on your invitation, but would like to ask, please feel free to contact us directly. You should all have one of our numbers.

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

We don't want anyone to walk in late! Our ceremony will be at 6PM. We recommend arriving 20-30 minutes earlier so you can enjoy a drink, find a seat, and be comfortable for the big moment!

What is the easiest way to get to and from the wedding venue?

If you are visiting from out of town, depending on where you decide to stay, the venue will either be a short walk or a quick uber/lyft away. For those attending locally, there is a parking lot directly across the street from the venue, though we do recommend uber or lyft if you plan on drinking.

Can I take pictures?

During the ceremony, we ask that everyone stays unplugged. We will have a professional photographer taking photos, so you won't need to! After the ceremony, feel free to snap any photos you want to on your phone or one of the disposable cameras we'll be providing. We just ask you share them with us afterwards.

What should I wear?

We are going with the idea of "Formal but Fun"! What does that MEAN though? Well, for starters, check out "the vibes" page! Because this is a very small wedding with our closest friends and family, we want you to feel comfortable and at ease while still looking sharp. We encourage everyone to add a little flare to their attire. Think sequins, bold colors, bolo ties, even velvet! If you want to wear a dress with feathers, go for it! If you have an awesome pink suit or tux, love it, wear it! Dont want to wear a tie? That's totally ok! The only thing we request is that you don't wear a white dress or suit.

What will the weather be like?

All signs are pointing to a beautiful, clear, temperate day with a high of 70* and a low of 45*. We recommend bringing a light jacket to keep yourself warm as we hit the later hours of the night.

Will there be a cocktail hour between ceremony and reception?

Yes! Along with the pre-ceremony drinks, there will be a second cocktail hour on the patio while the reception space in the downstairs speakeasy is prepared for dinner and the ceremony space is flipped for the reception.

Will there be an open bar?

Hell yes. However, during cocktail hour only wine, beer, and seltzer will be served to prevent anyone from getting too inebriated before the reception. Once dinner has started, it's all game on.

What kind of food will be served at the reception?

We wanted to keep dinner fun and fast in order to get as much time on the dance floor (and at the bar) as possible. That said, we've decided to have one of our favorite pizza joints take care of catering. Rest assured that we will have options available for those with dietary restrictions. We want this to be as informal as possible and want you to be comfortable, so eat as much or as little as you'd like. Just make sure to leave room for cake and a late night snack!

Will there be assigned seating at the reception?

Kind of! Everyone will be assigned to a table, but once you find your table, it's up to you to decide where you want to sit. The only table with assigned seating will be the head table.

What time will the reception end? Will there be an afterparty?

We have the venue until 11 PM at which point we will head directly across the street to one of our family friend's bars, The Rose of San Antonio. We would love you to join us!
